Swedenborgite

Ex - Pinch Collection Ex - Feinglos collection
Origin: Långban mine, Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden
Sample size: thumbnail, left crystal 3 mm (top), 1.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm, crystal 0.75 mm (bottom)

Swedenborgite under SW-UV light

A waterclear, with a tint of pale yellow, prismatic crystal to 1 mm, terminated with other forms present. It is also striated perpendicular to the elongation of the prism. The photo does not do this crystal justice. Under UV light it glows intense blue and stands out like a sore thumb! Another much smaller crystal is close by and is about 0.3 mm.

White or clear crystals to about 0.75mm embedded in matrix. Best way to observe the crystal is by Ultraviolet light under shortwave. Ex. DeVito Collection

The red arrows oinpoint where there are swedenborgite crystals to about 0.75 to 1 mm. These are shown under the scope as hexagonal cross sections and prismatic sections in the matrix. The are quite obvious under SW UV being bright.

Yellow white hexagonal crystals to 1 mm
Origin: Långban, Värmland, Sweden (type locality)
Sample size: 3.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm (top), 3 x 2 x 2 cm (2nd row),  5 x 3 x 3 cm (3rd row), 5 x 4.5 x 4 cm (4th row), 3 x 2 x 1.5 cm (bottom)
