Rhodochrosite

  
This specimen of quartz and sulfides hosts a number of rhombic crystals of rhodochrosite and a few small crystals of dodecahedral fluorite. The largest crystal is 1.9 cm across.
Origin: Nates Pocket, Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Park Co., Colorado, U.S.A.

Unusual pseudomorph composed of small (0.1-0.2 cm) rhodochrosite rosettes after eudialyte. Albite and other associate minerals are also present.
Origin: Poudrette Quarry, Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
Sample size: 2.8 x 1.9 x 1.2 cm
 
  
This specimen is a large plate of quartz covered with rhombic crystals of rhodochrosite to 1.8 cm across. There are also dark brown to nearly black crystals of sphalerite and minute crystals of pyrite.
Origin: Huayllapon Mine, Pasto Bueno district, Pallasca Province, Ancash, Peru
Sample size: 14 x 10 x 3 cm
