Dauphine-twinned quartz crystal. This transparent, multiply-faced quartz crystal was mined from the San Pedro Mine of San Diego County in 1961 and is illustrated as Figure 44 on Page 103 of Sinkankas" 1964 benchmark book, "Mineralogy for Amateurs". One side is coated with a thin layer of white cookeite that reflects the camera''s light back at us and makes it look more cloudy than it is.
