Amethyst

  
  
A single elestial growth of quartz terminated all round with parallel and stepped crystal faces is crowned with a gemmy transparent cap of amethyst.
The body of the crystal is heavily included with silvery black needles of tourmaline.
Origin: Pohndorf Pegmatite, Pipestone District, Butte, Montana, U.S.A.

Chert matrix with a single doubly terminated quartz crystal that has two distinct zones of purple amethyst at the tips and a mikly quartz center portion of the crystal.
Origin: W. Shore Lake Balkhash, near Preozersk, Dzezkazgan Oblast, SE Kazakhstan

The amethyst crystals are intermixed with quartz on top of a hemispherical hollow of quartz. The base has brown calcite crystals. The hollow of quartz is 2.3 cm across.

Two undamaged, very well coloured parallely grown crystals ((the big one is 2.4x1 cm with hoppered tip), perched on a green basalt matrix together with millimetric dolomite and calcite crystals.
