The Arkenstone

The main amethyst crystal, which is 3.1 cm in length, is both sceptered and windowed. A few of the larger side crystals are also doubly-terminated. In addition, the crystals are slightly included with red lepidocrocite; this can only be seen (at least with my eyes!) under magnification. In addition, the crystals have deep color and sharp zoning. The smaller crystals are smoky quartz which appear to be covered by an overgrowth of milky quartz.
Origin: Goboboseb Mountain, Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
Ex. Ed Rosenzweig collection
Sample size: 10.4 x 6.0 x 5.3 cm
