The Arkenstone

Morphologically interesting specimen with a late stage tabular pyrite (3-5 mm) straddling twinned marcasite crystals (2 cm). The marcasite evidently was pyritized. Later stage pyrite is alo epitactic over the marcasite.
Origin: Nanisivik mine, Baffin Island, Nunavut Territory, Canada
Sample size: 11 x 9 x 4 cm
