Deep red, lustrous crystals to 4.5 mm centered well on matrix of pyrite

Origin: Cerro Rico de Potosi, Peru

Deep red grains to 3 mm of pyrargyrite throughout the matrix of sulfide minerals (galena, sphalerite, tetrahedrite, pyrite).

This specimen of quartz is smothered with myriad crystals of pyrargyrite and acanthite. The crystals range in size from a millimeter to over 1/2 cm across.
