Photo-Atlas of Minerals

Jet black perloffite associated in vugs filled with light green ludlamite (right), associated with kryzhanovskite

This specimen is loaded with dozens of dark green, very micro (about 0.2 mm) bladed crystals on a white matrix so you can see them easily. Associated with the perloffite is black kryzhanovskite

The Perloffite is a single dark green blade perhaps 0.2 mm on a black and bronz dark brown matrix of kryzhanovskite and probably phosphoferrite matrix.
Origin: Hagendorf Sud, Oberpfälzer Wald, Bayern, Germany
Sample size: 2 x 1 x 1 cm (top), 3 x 2 x 2 cm (2nd row), 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm (bottom)

Ludlamite and huréaulite matrix with jet black, lustrous and spike-like crystals of perloffite

Dark black micro crystals to about 0.5 mm in ludlamite/vivianite matrix
Origin: Big Chief mine, Pennington Co., South Dakota, U.S.A. (type locality)
Sample size: 1.5 cm x 8 mm x 5 mm, crystals to 0.75 mm (top), 1 cm x 8 x 7 mm, crystals less than 1 mm (2nd row), 2.5 x 2.5 x 1 cm (bottom)

Deep green, prismatic microcrystals. The malachite is also a deep green colour but occurs in spherical microcrystals.
Origin: Spring Creek Mine, Wilmington, Flinders Range, South Australia, Australia
