Mimetite

This specimen of quartz hosts a couple of stcoky, gemmy and lustrous crystals of mimetite. The largest crystal is 1.2 cm in length. Also present are small quartz crystals.

This is a fully though complexly terminated crystal of mimetite. The crystal was likely damaged during its growth and subsequent phases of mineralization healed it. This is a large mimetite crystal typical of those found in the 8th level in the first oxidation zone. The smaller adjoined crystals are also complexly terminated.

Origin: Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia

Sample size: 3 x 2 x 1.5 cm (top/2nd row), 4 x 2.4 x 1.3 cm (3rd/bottom row)

This specimen of gossan is host to numerous spherical masses of light green coloured mimetite and scattered crystals of orange tabular wulfenite. The largest wulfenite crystal is 0.8 cm across.
