Origin: Florida Canyon mine, Pershing Co., Nevada, USA
Sample size: 6 x 4 x 2 cm, crystal aggregates to 1 cm
Origin: Florida Canyon mine, Pershing Co., Nevada, U.S.A.
Sample size: 4 x 4 x 2 cm with green micro, platy crystals to 0.75 mm
Light green micro tabular cystals to 0.75 mm. Sparse on matrix.
Origin: Big Indian mine, La Sal, San Juan Co., Utah, United States
Ex. DeVito collection
Sample size: 6 x 4 x 4 cm
Pastel green thin tabular crystals to 1 mm filing voids associated with minor
arthurite, blue to green
scorodite and
pharmacosiderite (less than 0.1 mm). This specimen was originally
labelled as "
Luetheite"
plus the others above. Tom could not authenticate the luetheite. It is
reported from Majuba as "grey coatings beneath
pharmacosiderite". An original handwritten label by M. Jensen (the
discoverer) accompanies this specimen which states "Ferroan and REE bearing
Luetheite....". Quite possibly it is there - Tom just couldn't see it.
Origin: Majuba Hill mine, Pershing Co., Nevada, United States
Sample size: 6.5 x 7 x 3 cm
Leak green, somewhat reflective square tabular crystals with to about 0.5 mm
with micro, light green acicular
parnauite crystals to less than 0.2 mm. Unknown 6a and 6b in Wayne
Leicht's article (MR V2 N5) turned out to be
parnauite. Interesting to note that the Grandview mine could have been
the type locality for
parnauite as it was found in the early 1970's and the actual TL became
Majuba Hill in 1978.
