Origin: Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Sample size: 7.5 x 5 x 4 cm
Origin: Langban, Filipstad, Varmland, Sweden
Ex. Marcelle and Charles Weber collection and James Zigras collection
Sample size: 5.7 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm
This specimen is unbelievably rich in margarosanite - easily 75% to 80% by
volume. Margarosanite occurs as intergrown radiating crystal groups to 1.5 cm
in diameter. It is brightly fluorescent under SW UV light. The brighter and
silky white areas may be
thaumasite. It looks a lot like
pectolite
however, which is known to fluoresce yellow. John is going with the SW UV
response and calls it
pectolite.
Flink reported specimens of margarosanite as coming from the Lukas and Bjeke
workings in the mine.
Origin: Långban, Sweden
Harry von Eckermann Collection
Sample size: 9.4 x 4.5 x 3.4 cm
This specimen has abundant grains of the rare lead bearing silicate
margarosanite. Under SW UV light the margarosanite fluoresces bluish white.
