Magnetoplumbite

This large cabinet specimen dwarfs the world class 0.5 cm crystal of magnetoplumbite. It is found in phlogopite matrix with a vein of calcite. This is an exceptional crystal for this species by virtue of its size and crystal quality! Note the red circle drawn around the crystal. It was evidently drawn on the specimen a long time ago. Magnetoplumbite was found in the Amerika workings of the mine. Magnetoplumbite is named after its magnetic properties. Quite unusual for a mineral containing lead.
