The Arkenstone

This specimen has very high quality inesite and since it is situated on magnetite it is most likely from the Norrbotten workings where Flink mentioned that the mine's best inesite came from. Inesite is found as clusters and sprays of reddish pink crystals to 0.8 cm in length. Covering a lot of the inesite is a thin layer of yellowish green garnet.

This specimen has large sprays of orange coloured inesite with crystals to 1.2 cm in length. Also present are fine crystals of garnet and calcite. Scattered about in a few areas are small bladed crystals of milky white barite. The reference book on Långban indicates that crystals of inesite over 5 mm in length are rare. This specimen, with crystals to 1.2 cm in length, is therefore significant for the species from Långban. The bulk of the matrix is comprised of massive garnet.
