Black tetragonal crystals averaging 1-2 mm but up to 5 mm in matrix.

This specimen has large partial crystals of hausmannite to 1.7 cm across. Hausmannite was the most abundant manganese mineral in the mine and is not rare. Large crystals above 1/2 cm are however. Richterite crystals are found on the specimen also.
