The Arkenstone

 

  
This specimen is mostly comprised of jet black, prismatic crystals of gaudefroyite. There is some drusy red andradite and a couple of frosted calcite crystals. The longest gaudefroyite crystals are about 0.7 cm in length. Several of the gaudefroyite crystals have epitaxial growths of hausmannite crystals to 1-2 mm across.
