Galena with sphalerite

Origin: Elmwood mine, Smith Co., Tennessee, United States

Sample size: 4 x 3 x 2 cm (top left), 3 x 2 x 1.5 cm (top middle), 2.8 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm (top right), galena cube to 1.7 cm (bottom)

This stalactite of galena is studded with crystals of cerussite to 0.6 cm across.

Origin: Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia

Sample size: 5.3 x 1.5 x 1 cm

 

  

Galena and sphalerite

  

  

This specimen of fine grained sphalerite hosts numerous lustrous crystals of galena to 1.8 cm across. There are also several crystals of violet fluorite to 1.3 cm across.

Sample size: 4.3 x 3 x 2.5 cm (top/2nd row), 8.6 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm (3rd/bottom row)
