Cuprite

This specimen has a layer of powdery chrysocolla which is host to a cluster of sharply crystallized cuprite crystals. The cluster is 2.4 cm across. The cuprite has an octahedral form. There are small crystals of malachite set on the cuprite.
Origin: Kolwezi, Katanga, DR Congo, Africa
Sample size: 7.9 x 7.2 x 3.3 cm

Origin: Kombat Mine, Namibia
Sample size: 20 x 17 x 17 mm

This specimen of calcite has a rich zone of chalcoctrichite which is a hair-like variety of cuprite. This variety of cuprite was found only once at the Tsumeb mine in the upper oxidation zone between the 300 and 390 meter levels of the mine.
Origin: Tsumeb Mine ,Tsumeb, Namibia
Sample size: 6 x 4 x 3.5 cm
