The Arkenstone

This is a specimen with numerous crystals of clintonite. The surface of this specimen has the calcite etched away to reveal the crystals from the thin seam that encased them. Clintonite is a micaceous mineral found in serpentinized limestones and contact skarns (metamorphics). The largest crystals are slightly over 1 cm across.
