Clinochlore

Variety Kämmererite with calcite

Origin: Kop Daglari, East Anatolia, Turkey
Sample size: 8 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm (top/2nd row), 6 x 3.2 x 2.5 cm (3rd/4th row), 3.7 x 3.2 cm (5th row), 5 x 3 cm (bottom)

This specimen has a mineral that was of interest to von Eckermann. In 1927 he published a paper with analytical data for this variety of clinochlore (mangan pennin). The specimen has numerous crystals of clinochlore scattered about to 2 mm across in a magnetite rich carbonate rock.

This specimen was used by von Eckermann, in 1927, to publish analytical data for this variety of clinochlore. The central crystal is 4.5 cm across and is likely one of the largest in existence from the mine.
Origin: Långban, Sweden
Harry von Eckermann Collection
Sample size: 10 x 7 x 4.5 cm (top), 9.5 x 6 x 6 cm (2nd/bottom row)

This specimen has two well formed pseudomorphs of clinochlore after garnet. The dodecahedral form of the garnet has been faithfully preserved by the clinochlore. There are also several small octahedral crystals of magnetite found uniformly throughout the specimen. The largest of the pseudomorphs is 3.1 cm across.
