Cerussite

This specimen of gossan hosts a 0.6 cm crystal of chrome cerussite. Also found are small tufts of acicular dundasite. Chrome cerussite is coloured yellow by the presence of minute amounts of chromium.
Origin: Adelaide Mine, Dundas, Tasmania, Australia
Sample size: 2.1 x 1 x 0.8 cm (top), 1.8 x 1.3 x 1 cm (2nd row), 1.8 x 1.3 x 1.2 cm (bottom)

This specimen is comprised of mostly yellow colored crystals of chrome rich cerussite with brilliant reddish orange crococite. The largest cerussite crystals are about 3-4 mm across.
Origin: Kapi Mine, Dundas, Tasmania, Australia
Sample size: 2.2 x 1.7 x 1 cm

This specimen is rich in yellow colored chrome cerussite crystals to 0.8 cm across. There are also numerous scattered small crystals of blood red crocoite to 1-2 mm in length.
Origin: West Comet Mine, Dundas, Tasmania, Australia
Sample size: 9.3 x 5.7 x 3.8 cm

This specimen is just about all cerussite with at least two generations. The larger reticulated crystals have smaller 1 cm v-twins scattered about it. The surface of the larger and older generation cerussite crystals appear to have minute crystals of smithsonite to no more than 0.5 mm in length.

Origin: Kintore Open Cut, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia
Sample size: 10 x 7.6 x 6.5 cm (top), 7.3 x 5.2 x 3.4 cm (bottom)

This specimen is almost all cerussite as single crystals and small cyclic twins
Origin: Block 14 Open Cut, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia
Sample size: 5.3 x 3.1 x 2.3 cm

This specimen is all cerussite - both smoky and dark grey. It has cyclic twins. The lower portion of the specimen is etched.
Origin: M'Fouati, Congo, Africa
Sample size: 7.2 x 5.2 x 2.6 cm
