The Arkenstone

A nicely zoned spray (10mm across) of ferroan calcite with greyish phacolitic chabazite (probably Na) crystals. The Zeolites of Victoria book (Birch et al 1989) suggests that all Melbourne chabazites have Na > Ca however no specific analyses are given for Bundoora chabazites.
Origin: Boral Limited quarry, Bundoora, Victoria, Australia
Sample size: 10 mm calcite spray
Sample owner: Keith & Margaret Brown
