Calcite
Origin: Pugh Quarry, Ohio, United States
Sample size: 5 x 3 x 3 cm (top), 6 x 5 x 4 cm (2nd row), 5 x 5 x 3 cm (bottom)
Twinned calcite (butterfly)
Origin: Westfalen Mine, Rio Grande do Sol, Brazil, South America
Sample size: 2.8 x 2 x 1 cm
This specimen has two forms of calcite crystals - both rhombic and
scalenohedral. The largest crystal is 1.4 cm in length (pictured on the left).
Calcite was found throughout the mine. It is not rare but this specimen, with
dark green
diopside crystals and what appears to be
xonotlite
(?) is quite interesting with the two forms.
Origin: Långban, Sweden
Harry von Eckermann Collection

and two large crystals of calcite. The calcite is rhombic in habit. One of the
crystals has some small cleavages on one corner. The largest crystal is 2.5 cm
on the diagonal.

This specimen has a couple of calcite crystals coloured red by inclusions of
cuprite.
The largest crystal is 1.5 cm across.
Origin: Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia
Sample size: 5.5 x 3.4 x 2.5 cm (top/2nd row), 2.5 x 2 x 2 cm (bottom)
Origin: Minerva #1 Mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, United States
Sample size: 6 x 5.5 x 5 cm (top/2nd row), 8 x 4.2 x 3.2 cm (3rd/4th row)
John Veevaert, Trinity Mineral Co
Origin: Camp Verde Mine, Yavapai Co., Arizona
Sample size: 6.9 x 5.8 x 3.9 cm
The specimen consists of sugary pyramidal crystals of colourless

to just over 3 cm in size. These in turn are scattered with colourless
calcite crystals, some doubly terminated and to 13 mm in length. These in
turn show dark black coatings, mostly near the terminations but not always.
Origin: Idarado Mine, Telluride, Ouray District, San Miguel Co., Colorado,
U.S.A.
Sample size: 12.8 x 5.9 x 5.2 cm
