The Arkenstone

Braunite was one of the principal ore minerals at Långban. It is not a rare mineral species. It is, however, quite rare in good crystals as this specimen has which is 0.7 cm across. The matrix consists of calcite and richterite.

Most braunite from Långban has a rounded form. These crystals, however are quite sharp. The cream coloured globular mineral is barite.
