Azurite

This is a brilliantly lustrous 2.2 cm crystal of azurite! The matrix is chalcocite and there is a small piece of matrix at the top of the crystal.

This specimen has several crystals of azurite and scattered cerussite. The azurite crystals were lightly etched and then subjected to another phase of mineralization producing the mirror-like faces. The largest crystal is 3 cm across.
Origin: Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia
Sample size: 4 x 3.5 x 2 cm (top/2nd row), 5.7 x 4.5 x 3.6 cm (3rd/bottom)

This specimen is comprised of all azurite with minor alteration to malachite.
Origin: 5000 Level, Northwest Extension, Morenci, Graham County, Arizona, U.S.A.
Sample size: 6.2 x 4.1 x 1.4 cm
