The Arkenstone

This specimen of basalt hosts numerous spiky crystals of lime green apophyllite to 1.5 cm in length. The crystals rest on smaller crystals of milky white heulandite

This specimen of basalt hosts a streak of spiky crystals of lime green apophyllite to 1.3 cm in length. The crystals rest on smaller crystals of milky white heulandite and there are scattered silky white crystals of stilbite also.

This specimen consists of large blocky crystals of lightly etched apophyllite. The largest crystal is 3.5 cm across. There are also crystals of silky white stilbite attached to the crystals.
Origin: Wagholi Quarry, Poona, Maharashtra, India
Sample size: 6.5 x 4.2 x 3.5 cm (top/2nd row), 10.5 x 7.6 x 6.4 cm (3rd/4th row), 9.5 x 6.5 x 7 cm (5th/bottom row)

cluster of milky translucent quartz crystals which has a black coating of what appears to be manganese oxide or possibly jamesonite on one side. This side of the specimen is also coated with gemmy microcrystals of apophyllite which is also included with micro sprays of whatever the black mineral is.
Origin: Dal'Negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
