Akrochordite

This specimen is one of the great rarities of the von Eckermann collection! In 1915 or 1916 it was found in the Japan workings of the mine. The original find of this extremely rare species produced 7 examples that Flink identified. This specimen is number 7 of the 7. Akrochordite is found as crystalline acicular masses to 0.5 cm across. Along with the akrochordite are crystals of pyrochroite, calcite (which makes up the bulk of the specimen), and an unknown of tan to beige colour. The rarity and quality of this specimen can not be overstated as all of the other specimens from the original find are in museums.
