Synonyms/varieties:

 

Comments:  Structural analogue of feroxyhyte; trimorphous with pyrolusite and ramsdellite. Observed in mixtures in "psilomelane" with other manganese oxides in iron oxide deposits. Probably bacterially altered from a previous mineral; in incrustations of ferromanganese minerals on oceanic basalt on a guyot.
