Synonyms/varieties:

 

Comments:  Polymorphous with feroxyhyte, goethite and lepidocrocite; from several sources including iron meteorites. Apparently formed from pyrrhotite by ferric-sulphate-bearing solutions. An important constituent in some soils, and certain geothermal brines and in seafloor nodules.
