Gold

"The Providence Nugget" was found by Jack Lange. Jack Lange is a well known Australian prospector who writes for and advertises in Australian Gold Gem and Treasure magazine. He spends his time between running his detector store jacksgold.com and nugget hunting himself in the wilds of Northern Australia. Note that this is a much rarer area to get a good, and large nugget from than from the comparatively richer goldfields in Southern Australia.
From Jack: "I called this magnificent 1100 gram (35.3 ounce) crystalline nugget the “Providence Nugget’ because of the circumstances surrounding its discovery. My brother Ed and I decided to try an area we hadn’t prospected before in North QLD…I detected the nugget within minutes of getting out of my vehicle at only about 45 cm depth!! Another week of searching the surrounding area produced nothing…so this was truly a providential find, thus the “Providence Nugget”. The whole story (along with the locality once he is done finishing exploration there) will be in an early 2005 edition of Australian Gold Gem and Treasure magazine.

Origin: Queensland, Australia (exact locality to be published in Australian Gold, Gem, and Treasure)
Sample size: 13.5 x 11.3 x 1.5 cm (average height)
